What does Theta Chi Alpha do?

Theta Chi Alpha is a nonprofit honor society that recognizes student-athletes from two-year institutions of higher education who excel both on and off the field of competition.

Theta Chi Alpha recognizes college student-athletes who participate in a sport at the varsity intercollegiate level, complete three full-time semesters (or four trimesters), and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes who compete for a collegiate club team are also eligible if the club team is overseen by the athletics department at the local chapter.

Theta Chi Alpha also recognizes that it is part of an athletics community made of diverse groups. Our organization supports all efforts in the realm of diversity, equity and inclusion.

How does an institution establish
a Theta Chi Alpha chapter?

Any two-year institution with an active membership in the NJCAA, CCCAA, FCSAA or, NWAC interested in joining Theta Chi Alpha must complete a membership application and submit a $125 initial enrollment fee. To maintain your school's charter there is a $75 annual fee.

How does a student-athlete become a member of Theta Chi Alpha?

Membership in local chapters is an honor bestowed upon selected student-athletes. A college or university must be a two-year institution and a member of the NJCAA, CCCAA, FCSAA, or NWAC.

Selection for membership is by an athletic department designee in consultation with the individual's head coach and is based on outstanding scholarship, earned athletic letter winner, and excellent character and citizenship.
